Udta Punjab 1080p Hindi Movies

Udta Punjab is a 2016 Indian crime drama film that explores the issue of drug abuse in the state of Punjab. The film features Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh in the lead roles. Udta Punjab was directed by Abhishek Chaubey and produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and Phantom Films. The film was released on June 17, 2016 and received critical acclaim and commercial success. Udta Punjab was also involved in a controversy with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which demanded 89 cuts in the film. However, the Bombay High Court overruled the CBFC and allowed the film to be released with only one cut.

Plot

The film follows four different stories that are connected by the common theme of drug addiction. Tommy Singh (Shahid Kapoor) is a popular Punjabi singer who is addicted to cocaine and lives a lavish lifestyle. He loses his contract and lands in jail after his song lyrics glorify violence and drug abuse. In prison, he meets two of his fans who confess that they killed their mother for drug money after being inspired by Tommy's songs.

She manages to escape and contacts Tommy for help, who agrees to help her in exchange for the heroin.

Preet Sahani (Kareena Kapoor Khan) is a doctor and activist who runs a rehabilitation clinic for drug addicts. She exposes the nexus between the drug mafia and the police, and tries to educate the people about the harmful effects of drugs. She also develops a romantic relationship with Sartaj Singh (Diljit Dosanjh), a corrupt police officer who is assigned to investigate the drug trade.

Sartaj Singh (Diljit Dosanjh) is a junior police officer who is involved in the drug racket along with his senior, Tayaji (Manav Vij). Production

The idea of Udta Punjab originated from Abhishek Chaubey's visit to Punjab in 2013, where he witnessed the widespread drug problem among the youth. He discussed the idea with Sudip Sharma, who co-wrote the screenplay with him. The film was initially titled "Udta Mumbai", but was later changed to "Udta Punjab" to reflect the reality of the state.

The film was shot in various locations in Punjab, such as Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala, Tarn Taran and Ferozepur. Some scenes were also shot in Mumbai and Delhi. The film's budget was estimated to be 34 crore (US$4.3 million).

The film's music was composed by Amit Trivedi, who collaborated with Chaubey for the third time after Dev.D and Ishqiya. The film's soundtrack consists of seven songs, which were released on May 18, 2016. The film's background score was composed by Benedict Taylor and Naren Chandavarkar.

Controversy

The film faced a major controversy with the CBFC, which demanded 89 cuts in the film, including the removal of references to Punjab, politics and drugs. The CBFC also asked the filmmakers to change the title of the film to "Udta". The filmmakers appealed to the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT), which upheld the CBFC's decision. The filmmakers then moved to the Bombay High Court, which cleared the film for release with only one cut, that of a scene where Tommy urinates on a crowd. The court also criticized the CBFC for acting like a "grandmother" and interfering with the creative freedom of the filmmakers.

Release

The film was released worldwide on June 17, 2016. The film received an A certificate from the CBFC, which means that only adults above 18 years of age can watch the film. The film was also released in Pakistan with minor cuts.

Reception

The film received positive reviews from critics, who praised the direction, story, screenplay, music and performances of the cast. The film was also appreciated for its bold and realistic portrayal of the drug problem in Punjab. The film has a rating of 7.8/10 on IMDb and 4/5 on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film was also a commercial success, earning approximately 96.199.7 crore (US$12 million) worldwide. The film was declared a hit by Box Office India.

At the 62nd Filmfare Awards, Udta Punjab received a leading 9 nominations, including Best Film, Best Director (Chaubey), Best Actor (Shahid Kapoor), Best Supporting Actress (Kapoor Khan) and Best Supporting Actor (Dosanjh), and won 4 awards including Best Actress (Bhatt) and Best Actor (Critics) (Shahid Kapoor).
